Olympic & Paralympic Games – London 2012
The much anticipated grid-lock on Lea Bridge Rd and inaccessibility to the BID area from other vehicular routes did not come to fruition. At times the local road network seemed even less congested than usual. This may have been because of the school summer holidays and the constant message to avoid travel via the local road network that was delivered by LOCOG and TfL. Although the limited congestion can be seen as a success, significant investment was made by BID businesses that changed their delivery routes, working patterns and even closed down for the period.
The positive outcomes of the games (with Olympic Park situated just over a mile away from the BID) expect to leave a legacy that will be beneficial for future generations.
