Tour de France Comes to Waltham Forest – 7th July 2014

tour de france. cyclistsJPGThe legendary Tour de France will be coming through the borough on Monday 7 July 2014 as part of the third stage from Cambridge to London.

Approximately 220 cyclists will endure 3,656km and 21 stages of differing terrain finishing three weeks later at Paris Champs-Élysées on Sunday 27 July. With Brits Bradley Wiggins winning The Tour in 2012 and Chris Froome in 2013 this promises to be a race not to miss.

This is your chance to join in this historic occasion. Cheer on your favourites and join in the festivities, as the cyclists pass through our borough. Local businesses should be aware that the event will close sections of Lea Bridge Rd and Orient Way causing disrupted accessibility to the BID area. The BID manager is currently negotiating alternative temporary access in an attempt to minimise disruption. An update will be posted once negotiations are complete….watch this space!
